All Saints' is a family of Christian believers, saved by the grace of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and committed to love, worship, proclaim, learn, and minister.
Sunday Services of Holy Communion are celebrated at 8:15am and 10:15am with Sunday school classes for all ages at 9:15am. Chapel Service at the School on Maple Valley Road at 8:15am on Wednesdays.
Programs are available at All Saints' to people of all ages, from infant care in the Nursery to a parish prayer list that is shared by e-mail with persons all over the world. Programs for the youth of the church provide opportunities for them to socialize, learn, pray, and provide service in the community. The Episcopal Church Women meet monthly, as do the Men of All Saints', for fellowship and educational programs. Wednesday evenings provide a time for the church family to gather for dinner and an educational program and Bible and book studies are available on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday evenings. And, of course, the spring and Fall Bar-B-Ques are a time when the entire congregation works together to provide funds for Outreach Ministries.
Like all families, there are certain things we do have in common, although an Episcopal upbringing is not one of them. Scratch 95% of us and you will find that we come from many different backgrounds: Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, you name it, you will probably find it at All Saints'. Our commonality lies in our appreciation of the tradition and heritage of the Episcopal church and that we have found a church home where our doubts and questions are not ridiculed, where we are allowed to grow in our relationship to God and to each other, and where we are reminded that God's saving grace is eternally evident in our own lives.
All Saints' is a diverse parish. The members span the economic scale and include people from a variety of cultures and countries. We are newborns and retired, we are school teachers and sales people, we are doctors and lawyers, we are CEO's and we work in the plants, we are managers and mayors (well, only one of those), we are single and married, we are divorced and widowed, we are teenagers and baby boomers, we are young families and empty-nesters.
Although traditional Episcopal worship is the backbone of the worship experience at All Saints', we are willing to experiment with new and different forms of music and liturgy. Our two Sunday worship services are good examples of this. The early service is traditionally Rite One without musical accompaniment; the rector will also find that brevity is especially welcome at this service. Average attendance hovers around 65 faithful persons.
The late service is traditionally Rite Two and includes music and at least one of the parish choirs: the Adult Parish Choir, the St. Andrews Choir (consisting of children from primary grades), and the St. Cecelia Choir (consisting of middle- and high-school aged children), led by the Parish Musician. Music ranges from the classical to traditional to contemporary, accompanied by our magnificent tracker organ, piano, or percussion. Brass, wind instruments and percussion are often heard during Festival Eucharists, such as Christmas Eve and Easter. Average attendance hovers around 210 persons and a nursery is provided for young children. While the sermon is delivered, Children's Chapel is provided for school aged youngsters, using a variety of curriculums, including Godly Play.
All Saints' Healing Ministry offers the laying on of hands, anointing with oil and prayers during the late service on Sunday morning. The Healing Ministry consists of lay members dedicated to bringing God's healing love to all. Teams, consisting of an anointer and several intercessors serve on a rotating basis. The Healing Ministry continually recruits new members and participates in continuing education and spiritual development and looks for ways to enlarge the ministry.
Christian Education is a focal point at All Saints beginning with Sunday school for all ages every Sunday morning between the two regular services. Many adults committed to the religious instruction of our children spend countless hours preparing and teaching the children, using a variety of curriculums. Children's Chapel is held during the sermon time of the later Sunday service for school age children. Several curriculums are used, including Godly Play. The Wednesday PM program begins with dinner and concludes with programs for adults and children. Many formats are used for these programs, including guest speakers, video series, and current event discussion topics.
The congregation of All Saints' is called to live into their Baptismal Covenant, especially now during major transitions in the life of our church and our community. We are called to be God's presence in our community, to be good stewards of God's creation and abundance, to give outside ourselves, to increase the Kingdom through our new school campus, and to continue to sing while we do it. We look to the future with confidence that God will continue to work miracles in Hamblen County.
If you are looking for a church that welcomes all and invites the inclusion of all its members into the life of the church, that is involved in the community both as a church and through the work of its members, that values liturgical worship and heavenly music, then we look forward to meeting you at All Saints' Episcopal Church. Please feel free to call the church office at 423-586-6201 with any questions you may have.
